Consolidation deformation induced by low frequency cyclic loads was investigated finite element analysis (FEA) and some available test data. Both one-dimensional (1D) consolidation the of a prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) unit cell were considered. With theoretical reasoning using results FEA, it has been established that amount rate continuous load with maximum increment q, can be calculated result static magnitude q/2. Providing compression (?S) near drainage boundary where effective stress is larger than q/2 taking into account. The ?S dependent method for evaluating proposed. Further, proposed during loading period, creep sustained on soil layer should included total deformation. applied to two 1D one PVD laboratory tests consolidations. Good agreement between measured settlement – time curves obtained.
